Title: Two Cats from Clinton
Artist: Georgia Gerber Date: 1992 Location: Port Townsend Public Library
Media: Cast Bronze Dimensions: 10" tall x 17" long x 11" wide
Originally commissioned by a couple with two such cats, this sculpture depicts two felines wrapped around one another lying on a bench outside the Port Townsend Library entrance. The cats' Siamese faces are distinct in the piece and capture their true expression. Form and lines predominate over anatomical perfection as Gerber creates a work of art rather than a snapshot of reality. Residing over the curled up cats, a plaque reads "In memory of Margaret Ann Ison, A special friend of the library." Fourteen other editions of this sculpture exist according to Gerber.
